    Juvenile Detention Facility
    Location: Visalia, California
    Client: County of Tulare
    Architect: Kaplan, McLaughlin, Diaz, San Francisco, CA

    This 168,036 square foot facility is a "New Generation Design Juvenile Facility" in a modular format. The 180 wet rooms (210 beds) feature adjacent day rooms, multipurpose rooms, classrooms and outdoor recreation areas in each housing unit. Support facilities include the health services area, kitchen and warehouse. The building also houses a full justice facility which includes court rooms, district attorney, public defender and probation offices.

    We worked very closely with the architect, construction manager (Kitchell CEM) and the subcontractors in an atmosphere of "partnering" to the benefit of all.
